Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a global non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting political participation and democratic governance worldwide. Headquartered in Berlin, Germany, DRI operates across Western Asia and North Africa (WANA), Sub-Saharan Africa, and Europe. It maintains country offices in Tunisia, Lebanon, Libya (operating remotely from Tunisia), the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ukraine, collaborating with various international and local partners across several countries. In addition to its physical presence, DRI is actively engaged in promoting Digital Democracy in many other areas.
Since 2016 DRI has been raising awareness and advocating for evidence-based policies and public debates that foster democratic and accountable governance, the rule of law, and political participation in Lebanon, in cooperation with civil society organizations and public officials. Particularly, DRI is working to expand the democratic space for a civil society-led debate on systemic change in Lebanon, encouraging citizens to actively participate in the governing of their own country in an inclusive and participatory manner.
DRI is currently recruiting a Project and Research Coordinator for its Country Office in Lebanon.
Your tasks
Under the overall supervision of the Country Representative and the direct supervision of the Programme Manager, the Project and Research Coordinator:
Research and expertise –
- Conducts research and provides subject matter expertise that is relevant to DRI Lebanon’s work portfolio on good governance, policy reform, elections, anti-corruption, and other areas of democracy support;
- Reviews publications, knowledge products, and technical/legal deliverables submitted by external consultants;
- Reviews DRI publications and research outputs, including liaising with external experts and consultants;
Project coordination –
- Leads the implementation of DRI’s policy advocacy work, e.g., policy consultations, political dialogue processes, peer-to-peer exchanges, and follow- up with public officials and civil society partners to that effect;
- Implements assigned project and related activities and outputs, such as events, workshops, trainings, etc.;
- Leads on partner coordination and stakeholder management in assigned projects in fulfilment of the project activities;
- Travels in the different regions of Lebanon to ensure sound implementation of project activities;
- Coordinates with the Procurement focal point on all procurement, ensuring that procedures are follow are submitted on a timely basis to facilitate timely implementation of field activities and adhering to both DRI and donor requirements in meeting the project objectives;
- Supports project communications in the planning, development, and implementation of digital content, and outreach/advocacy activities where needed;
Learning and reporting –
- Monitors and reports on the implementation of project activities, and develops internal and donor reporting on relevant projects through writing and researching for narrative reports;
- Monitors and reports on political, social and legal developments relevant to the projects;
- Contributes to, and inputs on, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) frameworks and tools, and drafting of MEL reports in accordance with DRI’s MEL and donor guidelines and in close coordination with the MEL focal point;
- Actively contributes to, and engages in the review and formulation of MEL and impact reports of all kinds;
- Ensures gender and diversity mainstreaming in the implementation of all project activities and project monitoring;
Fundraising and programme development –
- Supports programme development as well as the design and implementation of project frameworks and grant/proposal writing;
- Supports in drafting project concept notes and activity concepts to provide detailed planning for each project activity;
- Contributes to the identification and recruitment of national and international experts and co-drafts their terms of reference (incl. vacancy notices, selection protocols);
Other –
- Performs other relevant duties, as may be required
